About Vermont Fly Box Co.
Several years ago, I started making hardwood fly boxes for personal use and as gifts for fly fishing friends. They were designed to be consistent with the beauty and feel of my hand-tied flies, split-cane rod, and handmade landing net. I wanted these special fly boxes to distinctly say “Vermont.”
I began the business as the popularity of these unique wooden fly boxes increased. As a lifelong fly fisherman, it seemed strange to me that the “best” fly boxes on the market at the time had a cold, mass-produced look and feel.
Please understand that these heirloom quality fly boxes are meant to be used and passed on to future fly fishers; they are not “presentation boxes”! Our fly boxes are rugged tools and are every bit as capable as those made from synthetic materials; they are lightweight (about 4 ounces) and they float.
The design and components have been refined over the years and I believe we now offer the most beautiful and functional wooden fly boxes on the market.
My father taught me the art of catching trout on a fly rod here on the streams in central Vermont. Like most of us, this hobby has become a way of life. My appreciation of the skillfulness, acuity, and subtlety associated with this sport has deepened as I get older.
I hope you enjoy our fly boxes and the fly fishing way of life as much as I do.

Hi Dave, I just wanted to write and thank you for the fly box I ordered the other day. It's a 60th birthday present for my dad, and I was so pleased when it arrived in such good time. It's beautiful, and beautifully made, and I'm excited to be able to give it to him.
