Fly box features
The construction of our fly boxes starts with hand-picked native Vermont hardwood chosen for its color and grain structure. The rough cut lumber is vacuum kiln-dried to 6% moisture (for greatest stability) then planed and cut to size where the routing and finishing process begins.
The blanks are made on a state-of-the-art Italian CNC routing machine for the best precision and uniformity and then assembled, finish sanded, oiled, and finally laser engraved.
- Weight: 4 ounces
- Dimensions: 5 inches tall x 3 1/2 inches wide x 1 1/4 inches deep
- Finish: natural rubbed oil
Two very small, but strong Rare Earth Neodymium magnets are recessed into each side of the fly box to hold it closed with just the right amount of force.
After extensive searching and experimentation we’ve chosen a solid brass, rust-resistant cylinder hinge that is completely hidden when the box is closed.
Foam inserts are made from the highest grade closed cell foam available and sourced from a New England company. They are heat-molded into ¼” ripple foam for the right side and flat for the left. They will last for years but are replaceable.
Thanks to Laura Lenart who tracked me down when somebody found my wife Susan's fly box left by the Firehole River in YNP MT June 2009. I purchased this box in October 2003. Now we have it back thanks to your fine service and thoughtfulness.
I received my order yesterday and my son-in-law will be delighted. It is beautiful. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the rapid turn-around, the beauty and special crafting that is clearly shown in this practical fishing tool. My brother-in-law will be blown away with this magnificent fly box.
I received one of your fly boxes from a friend for my birthday. It is the most beautiful item in a very full vest! Anyway, I am doing the same thing, giving one to a dear fishing buddy for his birthday. I ordered one more for our son in late March for his 27th birthday. Thanks for building such a quality product.
The fly box arrived yesterday and my husband was definitely surprised. He loves it and went so far as to say that two of his friends will be jealous! We’ll have to point them in your direction.
